Adobong Sitaw


Adobong Sitaw - String Beans Adobo



Adobong Sitaw  (String Beans Adobo) is a famous Filipino dish that features meat and string beans. Traditionally, cooking includes pork but can also use chicken, beef, and fish.  Even without meat, it is still the best dish and it's quick, easy to cook and budget saving recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kilo ground lean pork or pork belly, cut into small cubes or strips
  • 1 bunch string beans (sitaw), cut into 2-inch lengths
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion; sliced
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, saute onion and garlic.
  2. Add 1/4 kilo ground lean pork or pork belly, sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Continue sauteing until pork color turn to brown.
  4. Pour in vinegar, continue to cook until vinegar is absorbed.
  5. Pour in soy sauce and water, stir well.
  6. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Add string beans, stir and simmer for another 10-15 minutes or until string beans is tender (Do not overcook the sitaw/string beans).
  8. Then ready to serve.
